Hazel’s feeding tube is OUT!
She scratched at it and pulled on it, tore at the stitches, and rubbed her neck against the bookcases. Finally, this morning I took her to the vet and rather than re-stitch it to the skin, they took it out all together.
We’d been feeding her through that thing since February 17th and she only started eating by mouth on her own a week or so ago, and only a couple nibbles at that. She’s still very thin, so I was pretty worried that she wouldn’t be able to eat any more than that and would start starving.
When I got her home from the vet this afternoon, she bolted out of the carrier and ran to the food dish and snarfed up a whole mouthful of cat food.
For now, it looks like she might be okay after all!
Way to go Hazel!
I’m totally rooting for Hazel. My very good friend just lost his cat this week to leukemia, and I’m so glad you still have your sweetie. It’s rough each and every time to lose a pet.
