My friend Mary put together this basket of pampering items for me for my birthday, including a lovely embroidered luncheon tablecloth, Burt’s Bees citrus ginger shower gel (which also makes an amazing facial cleanser!), gourmet coffee, homemade lavendar orange body scrub, goat’s milk soap, and my favorite: chokecherry jam.
She’s one of those incredibly thoughtful and generous people whom I’ve been privileged to get to know, initially through work and then as a friend. She introduced us to brown sugar and sour cream cheesecake, homemade sushi, cold filtered iced coffee, and a relaxed and laid-back entertaining style I wish I could imitate.
She’s the friend who came to my house the day before Thanksgiving to help get the food ready. She’s the friend who won’t let you do dishes after dinner at your house…and then won’t let you think of helping with dishes after dinner at her house.
Do you have a friend or family member like that? Aren’t they worth their weight in gold?
I have a friend like that, who I met on the first day of college orientation. We both ended up moving from AZ to MA at the same time, and she is now in a different state, we keep up occasionally. She was a mother to me and every single one of her other friends, always making tea when we would stop by her dorm room. It’s funny that you mentioned the dishes thing, because she does that too! Most definitely worth her weight in gold.
I just wish I’d have a friend.
Those are – hands down – the kinds of friends to have! Glad you have one!
What a wonderful and thoughtful gift! I do have a friend like that, in fact I have two, but one lives on the other coast so we don’t get to be with eachother very often.
