One of the first pictures I took last night after I stopped taking pictures of the top of my desk and my lap. Hazel, sighing, put up with the clicks and beeps of the new Canon camera.

Today at the office, I got out the camera during a lull in the afternoon and took this picture of the things on the credenza by my desk.

Finally, it was time to go home. I missed the three sunny days of October that all fell at the beginning of this week, with leaf color peaking in shades that almost seemed ridiculous. Instead it was grey and drizzly outdoors, but the pin oak in front of our house outdid itself this year, and I’m strangely happy that it holds onto its leaves so late into the autumn, if only because I got to take this picture on day two of my new camera:
The candle shot is really speaking to me, I think it’s the simplicity of it. Love the fall color of the oak. Great shots Mary!
You really got the colour well, considering the number of transitions to get it onto the blog. I love oaks in the fall. Ours have just been stripped off by a howling gale this morning. Sigh.
I hope you are starting to have fun. Our local camera shop runs a seminar on DSLR’s and I am contemplating taking it.
I think the candle shot is the best. You can see where the flame lit up the details of the votive. Everything in the background is blurred out nicely but you can still make out what looks like rabbit in a pile of leaves as the angel is watching carefully. The shot of Hazel is nice and sharp on her and would have been perfect if the picture of you three had been a little clearer. Would have made a great all around picture. The oak has nice color. Good luck with the camera I can see you are having fun with it. :)
