My mom is visiting one of my brothers for a few days while my dad is still in the hospital, and they set her up on the computer and had her type in an email message to send to all her kids. Yesterday she told us about going to see the doctor, and today she emailed that she was a “lady of leisure” because she ate and napped and read books. She said it was like heaven.
Dad, on the other hand, is working very hard to prove he’s well enough to get out of the hospital. He’s trying to eat more and he’s making enough progress that they’re saying he may be leaving the hospital by Monday. My brother, who is there from Mississippi, is working to get everything ready for him to go home, and my mom will not be home until Tuesday. Hopefully that will help alleviate some of the hubbub of transition that tends to make her so nervous, and when she comes home and sees Dad there, well….I don’t think there will be a dry eye in the place.
Meanwhile, I worked late and came home to dinner in the microwave and a freshly mopped floor, which was pretty much like heaven to me.
Sounds like my idea of heaven, too. Both your mom’s version and your own.
