Diane, I don’t think that would be bad – it’s just that some places try to be contemporary and it’s geezers trying to be hip and it comes out kind of sad and pathetic. If the music is bad, I’m like you: I can’t go to church.

I don’t mind some contemporary worship music, but that’s only if it’s on the radio. I am just not comfortable with it in a church service, at least not the way I see it done where it’s like a concert. Most churches I’ve been to that attempt contemporary music do so very badly. There is one local church that has fantastic music, but to me it’s still like going to a concert instead of church. And when did the word “worship” become synonymous with the music portion of the service?

de, EXACTLY. Being raised Catholic, we’d become used to the altar area being sacred and that you are reverential around it.

The pastor said that the Saturday service that week, the night before, had been unusually crowded because of the number of people going Saturday in order to avoid the puppets on Sunday.

Heather, when my husband’s grandfather died, the officiant at his funeral mass was a priest from Africa, who said “Our brother, Pillup” instead of Philip, and would mournfully intone “Ohhhh Lard,” instead of O Lord. We still imitate that priest, three years later.

Thank god you’re getting a new refrigerator! Ours has an ice maker but no water line to the fridge, like you guys, and I’ve always wondered how much it would cost to have that done. For $100 I feel like I need to have it done, we always fight over making ice. Thanks for the info!
